Passages of Study

- Matthew 6:19-34

Questions

1. What do you think the pattern of Christ message is from Matthew 6:1-34?

2. Do we understand that we can do right things, but with the wrong motives, and be in sin?

3. How then would you define sin based upon this understanding? Is it more than breaking the rules?

4. Why do you think that Christ used money to address the selfishness in people's heart?

5. How do you think doing things from selfish motives becomes idolatry?

Application

1. Do we find ourselves struggling to gain the approval of people rather than resting in the approval of Christ?

2. How do we feel that we can uproot the idolatry in our hearts that causes us to seek to be approved, adored, and ultimately worshipped by others?

3.In what practical ways can we alter the ways that we spend our money, our time, and our energy to fight our love affair with ourselves?
